ABOUT THE BRITANNIA INN HOTEL
Britannia Inn Hotel, Llangollen: High Quality food, accommodation, Bed and Breakfast (B&B)
Back to HOME MENU
The Britannia Inn, situated at the foot of the Horseshoe Pass, was built in the 14th Century by the Monks of the nearby Valle Crucis Abbey. Having an extensive view of the Vale of Llangollen below, well known throughout the area for it's good food, accommodation and hospitality, the Britannia Inn is a favourite for locals and holiday makers alike, offering high quality Bed and Breakfast (B&B) accommodation and also half board accommodation, in a relaxed country setting.
As well as featuring in food and Hotel guides, the Britannia Inn Hotel has also featured in publications abroad - once favoured in the L.A. Times as the place to stop in North Wales! Another attraction for visitors to the Hotel are our award winning flower displays - the Britannia Inn Hotel is credited with no less than 15 Wales in Bloom awards - the colours change with the seasons and always look spectacular. Accommodation at the Britannia won't disappoint, the quaint "cottage style" guest rooms are friendly and welcoming, and four of the Guest rooms have lovely panoramic views of the valley below.

In the summer, sit outside at one of the outdoor seating areas and enjoy the lovely views. In the winter, sit indoors with a hot drink, enjoy the sparkling snowy view, and consider a short trip up the nearby mountain. Whether to enjoy tobogganing with the kids or to take in the spectacular views at the top of the Horseshoe pass, its a lovely place to visit. Alternatively, wander down the mountain and explore picturesque Llangollen Town, centred around it's bridge crossing over the Dee River. Or just go off on an exciting adventure on one of the many local tourist activities - there is so much to do from your base at the Britannia inn, you will be absolutely spoilt for choice. And even if the weather is poor, you can relax in your guest room with a good book, or your Television, and just feel your blood pressure reducing by the minute - whilst eagerly looking forward to your next tasty meal down in the elegant dining room or the comfortable Lounge Bar. Or simply sit in front of the open fire in the lounge bar with a book or newspaper - it's entirely up to you!.

Popped into the bar area of the inn with friends and family as we were staying nearby. Awful welcome. Miserable staff. We were confined to a tiny area of the bar with no atmosphere, plastic covid screens everywhere, old dirty carpets and barriers stopping visibility of the hotel frontage, which could have looked beautiful if done right. Staff clearly didn’t want to be there. Shame as in a real prime location and could really be something. Won’t be going back.
Food average. Overcooked chips. Pie pastry edge very hard. Filling was outstanding. Really liked the atmosphere and service.
Spent a lovely night on a short break. The reception was very good as we were shown to the room. Part of the hotel dates from the 12 century ! We dined there in the evening the food was very tasty , the staff and service was excellent. In the morning substantial tasty cooked breakfast with choice of fruit juices and choice of eggs however you want them done. Plenty of freshly freshly brewed tea and white and brown toast with marmalade and strawberry jam. Plenty of car parking. Lovely views. Room was fresh and clean. The owner was very pleasant and friendly. Well worth staying or sampling their tasty menus.
Fantastic atmosphere.... staff amazing on a very stressful occasion to visit... but would definitely return. Food outstanding... definitely homemade and you can tell the chef is excellent... well done on everything.... make sure you all pay a visit.. dogs also allowed.
Called for lunch today as a party of four. Food was delicious and very accommodating for my dietry requirements. Served by a lovely, funny, sassy lady who couldn't do enough for us. My T-bone steak was the most delicious I have ever tasted and cooked to perfection. Very highly recommend . 5 stars!!
