Just love the Bridge Hotel. Been going there for over 30 years. Great location and the team there are fantastic. If you want tranquility away from the demands of modern life then this is the place to go. Oh and you can take the dog too.
We stopped here at the pub for lunch and refreshments in mid September. The staff were great and lunch was terrific as was the local beer! We stopped by again for more, after a walk around Buttermere. A lovely old pub.
I arrived at the bar looking dishevelled having spent 9 hours riding round the lakes in all weathers on my Motorbike, despite my appearance the staff were nothing but professional and courteous. I ordered mixed grill (with a medium rare steak) and it was cooked to perfection!. Service was quick, food was lovely and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. I even decided to have a pudding and a whisky (from there great selection) before trudging back off to my tent! Cannot recommend enough, will for sure be back.
I really wanted to love it as wanted to visit for ages; I've followed the page for so long and finally we made it to Buttermere (stunning). It's cosy inside and the bathrooms are lovely (but dark). We arrived on a weekday just after 12pm so not many in. Was seated and advised about the red/green block ordering system. The two staff were friendly, fussed our dog. We loved the fact that they do a doggy option (sausages and brocolli). However, our steak and ale pies, although huge were lukewarm in most parts, dare I say it cool. I did feed this back afterwards and the waitress informed the chef. We would have left a lot more on the plate had our dog not had some. The dogs sausages were only warm too even though we were told to wait as they were really hot. Maybe an issue with their heating equipment. Sadly we won't come back as nearly £60 spent and neither of us enjoyed it.
We didn't stay in the rooms here so can't comment on the quality of accommodation on offer! we did eat here in the bar area! We ordered the 8oz Cumberland sausage and the hungry portion of the steak pie. Both meals came out and wow! The pie was massive full of steak and was delicious! The sausage was also amazing! The price was great for the portion size too! However when asking if I could swap the fries for a small side salad without any extra charge they declined and said I'd have to pay extra for the side salad. This is the only thing that bothered me but everything else was perfect!!
