About us

Hidden away in the rural area of Wales. A country pub with a bar, restaurant and an outdoor area with exceptional views and peaceful surroundings.

The Blue Lion was built to house the monks in the early 17th Century and is allegedly the second oldest free-house pub in Wales! Re-opened in 2022 after refurbishment, the all new Blue Lion is a traditional yet modern pub and restaurant.

The Blue Lion is steeped in history, legend says it has an underground tunnel that leads to the local churchyard with monks buried in the snug walls and houses ‘John Henry’.

Had a really nice meal here- both curry and lasagne were fab, really great pub food. Service was quick and staff were really friendly. After eating we had a couple of drinks in front of the fire and will definitely come back for both food and drinks soon!

Lovely place to eat. Nice, varied home cooked menu. Idyllic setting serving a range of alcohol too. I saw a few dogs so I'm assuming at least some part of this place is dog friendly. And they have a pool table which was perfect entertainment teaching the kids while waiting on food. Would highly recommend.

What a great place to go for the evening. The weather was sunny, and the view is spectacular across to the hills. Staff couldn't do enough, food was incredible and so much of it!! Thoroughly recommend this place to anyone.

Impromptu spot of lunch on a glorious sunny day. In a wheelchair so lovely being outside with the fabulous views of the Clwydian range. Food and service was excellent. thank you to all the staff, who also made our 🐕 welcome. All in all, made my day 😊

This place is incredible and feels like good honest pub food. The pork belly was really tender and flavourful and my friend enjoyed the vegetable soup. Portion size was a bit more than expected which is a bonus. The burgers were thiccc and juicy (yes, 3 c's are necessary). Chips were very crispy. The wings had a very nice coating and a flavoursome sauce. Servers were very friendly and outdoor seating is very nice as the view is lovely. I will definitely come here again.
