About us

Pubs don't come in settings much better than that of The Black Horse, close to the Cherhill white horse and within walking distant to the Cherhill Monument, It is said that the mountains of South Wales and Cleeve Hill in the western Cotswolds can been seen from there on particularly clear days.

The Black Horse is a welcoming kind of place all year round with the log burning fires ensuring that it has a cosy, friendly feel, whatever the season.

With a full a la carte menu and a bar menu, it's a popular choice across a wide range of age groups - a family-oriented pub with a relaxed atmosphere, even though it can get very busy.

A lovely village pub in Cherhill. A perfect place to stop by for lunch for visitors who come to see Cherhill White Horse and the Lansdowne Monument nearby.

We had a great lunch here following a walk. There were 16 of us and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful or efficient. Our dogs who were on the dirty side following the walk were welcomed too and also got special attention with water and treats. It looked like there was only one person behind the bar but he worked so hard to make sure we were taken care of, taking orders and serving drinks efficiently and with a smile. Most of us had sandwiches served with chips. The bread was super fresh and the Sandwiches were crammed with filling. The chips were piping hot too! It was all delicious! Thank you so much for making a group of mucky walkers feel so welcome and making our lunch such a great experience

Booked here for Sunday lunch. We both had the Roast Pork and an extra side of cauliflower cheese. The food was lovely , nice & hot and the crackling was perfectly cooked. There was a very friendly atmosphere in the pub and the staff couldn't do enough for us. We have already booked our next visit.

Really great service here, we booked in advance for 12 people. We were able to preorder our mains to make the whole process so easy and relaxed. Food was amazing and was served in good time and very hot, I'm sure we will be returning :)
