The service was shocking. There was a queue at the bar but regulars must be able to jump the queue because that’s what happened with us. The young bar staff had to keep getting you to repeat what we were ordering simply because she wasn’t listening to us when we said it the first time. Waited to be served at the bar for about 20 mins. Food then took another half hour to come out. And it took the drinks half hour to come out when ordering on the app. Not a very good experience. The friend of the bar, an old man that sits up at the bar starts on anyone waiting to be served. Lovely atmosphere….. not. Not a very welcoming pub at all. Will not be coming back, the staff walk round with the most miserable faces too, we asked one of the staff that brought out food out of there was any mayonnaise, it was made out as though it was such a big ask. Think the bar needs to sort the staff and the whole venue out

Cheap but very average pub. Food was ok serving size wise but didn’t taste very good - peas and steaks were over cooked, everything in our meal needed a lot of extra seasoning (from the chips to the meat). The salad leaves were going brown at the edges and were decidedly limp/going off - we returned the salad which the kitchen re did, but got the same thing. Tables were dirty (sticky, wet and oily) and the place is so large that it’s a bit hard to get staff attention without going back to the counter every time . There was supposedly a family area for those dining with kids vs an adults area, but there were noisy kids running around the tables during our meal which defeated the purpose of the separated areas. Overall feels very tired/outdated, needed more staff and a good clean.

The Castle was very disappointing to visit. When I last visited, we had to wait for over an hour to only just get our starter with our mains expected to take another 45 mins to come. We ended up having to leave before our food arrived. Thankfully the staff were willing to provide us a refund. Times where I did get my food, it was pretty average. Also, the toilet lights in the mens did not work and I had to use my phone flashlight...

Just had our Christmas dinner at The Castle for the first time. Table for 4. Had to write a review as it was absolutely lovely! From the minute we arrived to leaving. We were greeted on arrival, served at the bar very quick and seated immediately despite being 30 minutes early. All the staff and table service excellent and the food was to our liking, plentiful, tasty and hot. They we're all very attentive and was excellent value by today's standards. It was also very chilled, calm, no rushing or anyone rowdy. Thank you all so much we enjoyed our Christmas Dinner and has helped make the day. I've only not rated 5 star as I never do, as there is always room for improvement wherever u may go so please take no notice and Merry Christmas

Was going to take a photo of a steak pie, but ate it before I could take a photo - very tasty, wouldn’t recommend the pulled chicken thigh mainly because the presentation was more like a chicken thigh massacre. Would suggest a sauce based chicken thigh to make it more succulent and appetising to the eye. Staff, couldn’t fault - smiley and polite
