Formerly called the Old Plough, it became the Belle Vue Tavern in 1991. Older visitors will remember the tree directly outside which fell down in a storm on Christmas Eve 1996.
It is a comfortable and friendly suburban local which has undergone some internal renovation. It has four separate areas which function as public bar, snug and lounge. But the intention of the fourth space, with what appeared to be a reception desk in it, was harder to identify! (For a while it was home to an aquarium, but that has now gone. Breaking news - it has now been inhabited by a caged bird - who would have guessed that development! (Jan 2016))
The pub participates in various local games leagues, and has the trophies to prove it. The prominent signage both external & internal proclaiming 'Shropshire Ales' is a relic of previous owners, as this was a Heineken UK (formerly Scottish & Newcastle) outlet and was the only one in Shrewsbury!. This has now changed following the pub's purchase by Admiral Taverns in October 2016.

Friendly local pub with a good selection of beers.
An excellent old traditional tavern that has a great welcoming atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
It doesn't do food, it's a drinkers pub that serves real ales on tap. The Bass is excellent
This pub is adorable! It's a proper drinkers pub with good people, good prices and a working jukebox. Dave, the landlord, is dry witted but ever so friendly.
Lovely pub, dog friendly 🐕 and delicious Draught Bass 🍻always available, what’s not to love ❤️
