The only good thing about our visit was the drinks we had. Our food was cold, but we ate it as we were first time visiting and didn’t want to make a fuss. Gravy& the yorkshire and potatoe was beautiful. When we asked the man who worked there to clear the table he didnt seem too happy to clean it, and in doing so he only removed the plates and left the table dirty whilst delivering the deserts to the table. We sensed a bit of annoyance from his body language , the girl behind the bar was very polite and kind. The desert was nice but the ice cream tasted gone off or very cheap ice cream. We will not be returning.
Where do I start. Never done a review before but this was so unbelievable. Came to our local for my wife’s birthday. 5 adults. Only 2 other people in pub at time of order. Ordered 5 mains, waited 50 minutes no other food came down as we waited. Hunters chicken , they had no bacon for it. Steak came with no mushrooms , had none. No onion rings or peppercorn sauce they were just missing. Onion rings they said were because they had no bacon did not come. Mash potatoes with the steak pie were stone cold . Ordered 4 deserts , they had run out of ice cream.and the custard was not warm.
Worst Sunday lunch in a long while. 8 of us but restaurant was empty, literally 2 others eating and all the food was cold. Yorkshire chewy and burnt and the main meals were the same size as the kids meal. Same potatoes, meat, sprouts and carrots. Nothing like the menu card, didn't even have the same veg... I had beef and a piece of Turkey was on the plate too. After we paid we erre told no cranberry sauce and you understand with a full restaurant not an empty one. The fluffy mash potatoes was dry and bitty and the gravy was cold. Mentioned it was bad and cold but it was too late to do anything as we had something to move on too. Waited 20 minutes for jelly and ice-cream and got told off because we asked where it was? We were invited to see santa then told to make a donation.... you say that at the start not the end! The only highlight was the zootastic visit with a snake and dragon and rabbit! Kids loved it but that was it.... Very disappointed with that one. I know people can have a bad day but it was bad in every area... No wonder it was empty and easy to book for.... £11 for adults which was the same £6 kids portion on a bigger plate. We finished a cold dinner because we had too or go hungry and we had a family event to attend. All meals came out ready for kids. Potatoes were hard not crispy and carrots were like they were boiled from frozen? Luke warm and hard... Sad as we had a Friend down from Bristol.
Having been to the Beaufort in a large group a couple of times before, I was expecting the usual warm welcome. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, this did not happen this time. We were left standing round for 10-15 minutes and had to go to the bar to ask what was happening with our booking. The response was not expected at all. Basically I was told there was no record of my booking for 12 people. I had the confirmation email but was struggling to connect and view it due to the non existent signal. However, the girls did manage to accommodate us which was a great relief. The food and service were the usual high standard so no complaints there.
Nice staff and good drinks, but I wouldn't go back for the food. We came for lunch then went for a walk, then had a pint when we got back. Food wasn't great (quite dry chicken burgers) and the veggie burger was very basic too - the menu definitely sells better than the kitchen delivers. But staff were friendly and we had a nice relax after the walk. Dog friendly too. I'd have rated 4* as just a pub.
