This place is a must visit but only to meet the most incredible landlord in the world! Acerbic dialogue delivered in a monotone that dissolves away consciousness. We are still in stitches days after our visit.
Stayed here before and it was good but won't stay again. Price has gone up. Says it is a dog friendly hotel but nowhere to eat breakfast with the dog! It meant I had to dine separately to my dad and partner. Only room key given with no info or key for the main door or explanation of when breakfast was. Didn't feel overly welcome like we were introduding in someone's house.
Like a Curates egg, good in parts. Friendly people, our room was good and clean, fantastic sea view and the best breakfast I have had for years. However the hotel is very tired three doors to get through into the bar, each quite scruffy. The bar/reception very tired and scruffy and closed when we arrived back for a drink at 20.30. Despite this I enjoyed my stay. £110 is too much £80 would be more appropriate.
We haven't stayed here only stopped for a pint. There is a small bar with a very nice seating area. The barman was very friendly and chatty. Only bad point was the men's toilet is outside which is rather unusual these days.
Friendly Hotel. Very welcoming . Breakfast was the best in Whitby as promised and served by a very polite and lovely girl who also brought my dog Ruby her own sausage for breakfast . Highly recommended. I will be going there again many times in the future.
