About us

Built in the Victorian era, the Bayswell Hotel features some of the stunning architecture of that time. Being located on top of the cliffs, overlooking the Firth of Forth, guests can relax in our comfortable Bay Lounge or the breakfast room and watch the world – and weather – go by.

We are within a short 10-minute walk from the bustling Dunbar high street, with its visitor attractions such as art galleries, cafés, pubs, and restaurants, as well as the John- Muir Museum, Dunbar castle, and the train station.

All 21 bedrooms of the hotel are ensuite, and while four rooms are on the ground floor at the back of the hotel – featuring their very own hot tub with a stunning sea view and private decking – the remaining 17 rooms are on the first and second floor, accessible by stairs (no lift available).

Our small but well stocked bar is open seven days a week, so is the reception desk, which is manned between 7.30am and 10pm.

We are looking forward to welcoming you and hope you have a splendid time at the Bayswell Hotel.

Our Hot Tub rooms feature all of the comforts you could wish for in a cosy, sea-side hotel. They are modern, individually decorated with comfort and convenience in mind. All our Hot Tub Rooms boast stunning views over the Firth of Forth.

My experience here went from bad to great. We had booked a nice room through expedia, only to realize that the room we got wasn't the one we'd booked. They didn't advertise their less quality rooms. SO, if you're going to book here at all; book a hot tub suite. These are the only nice rooms in the entire hotel. Once we switched rooms, our stay was wonderful. I mean, as always it could have been cleaner, but the hot tub with the ocean view was a highlight.

Lovely hotel. Room comfortable. Breakfast and service very good. I personally thought bar prices a bit expensive but it wouldn't prevent me returning.

I have given it 3stars because it is actually only a 3 star hotel and lives up to that rating. The staff were friendly and polite.our room was very cold, they got us a heater (didn't really help... not powerful enough but hey, it's 3 star not 5) . Food good- ample breakfast. Toast served hot and in a proper rack!

Absolutely brilliant. Stunning views from restaurant and food was superb. Staff very young but excellent. Had hot tub room porch and the views again breathtaking . Beautiful walks right on your doorstep towards town or along the coast. Brilliant stay in a lovely old building.

I had an amazing afternoon tea at the Bayswell Hotel last Thursday. The food was delicious; the sweets have been so good and the sandwiches so soft and rich. The presentation was like a 5* star Hotel Highly recommended.
