Set in a wonderful 15th century coaching inn, The Bay Horse at Hurworth has both retained its traditional charm and embraced modern architecture to give two elegant dining areas.
Our menus are created using the best seasonal and local produce to craft both great looking and tasting dishes.
Our two private dining rooms upstairs cater for up to twelve in the Seagrave Room and fourteen in the Northgate. Perfect for family occasions, birthdays and celebrations, our rooms provide an extra level of service with a dedicated waiter looking after your party. We also offer an optional extra of welcome drinks, canapes and delicious homemade cakes available to make your experience as special as it can be.
Easy to find, handy parking and great food presented by attentive staff. Much to recommend it - always enjoy our visit here. Had a wonderful mushroom risotto for starters, the pheasant main and sticky toffee pudding. Friends had the beef dinner which looked delicious too. Volcanic sized Yorkshire puds though. They also recommended the fish cake starter.
Fabulous food!! So much choice! Friendly and attentive staff! Great place to eat and celebrate.
Extremely high quality food. Great menu options. Expensive but worth every penny.
Had read about the Bay Horse being one of the best gastro pubs in the north, so booked lunch there on our way home from our wedding anniversary mini-break. It was absolutely superb. We had the prix fixe lunch since it had dishes we liked the look of, and everything my wife and I had was excellent - and good value too, at £25 for three courses. But it was the extra touches as well that made it a memorable meal - tasty mini breads to start, with spreadable butter (and you don't always get that), the selection of petit fours with the coffee. We had tables on the patio - ideal for a very hot day. Staff were friendly. Hurworth-on-Tees itself is a lovely village. Definitely would recommend the Bay Horse to anyone. We'll be back, and maybe try the main menu as a special treat.
We went for a family Sunday lunch. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and the food was fantastic. We all had different meats for the meal, lovely fresh veg and asking for a jug of extra gravy was not a problem at all. We sat inside but could see out to a lovely garden, will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu
