Went for the vegan night. Food took 2 hours then wasn't even the meal I ordered (items substituted & missing with no communication about it and staff didn't care) and was over cooked & burnt in places. The kitchen keep burning things and making the whole place smoky, most people were coughing and I had to go out for fresh air at one point before they thought to even open a door! Food and food service was extremely disappointing. The bar man who served us was really great, friendly and helpful and the live music was brilliant. It was my first visit and not a good first impression unfortunately. I'm sad because I've heard good things and was really looking forward to it. If the staff had cared more and actually talked to me about the problems it would've made the situation so much better.
Great event at Bask tonight, 'Benji's Vegan kitchen'. Tasty food, great atmosphere, lovely background live music, great beer, friendly staff. 😋 hope its on again!
I went there on a Sunday for one of the Stockport Alternative Market events. Really well organized and adequately planned to allow good circulation of the stalls, despite it being quite busy. Really enjoyed a coffee (with oat milk) and brownie. There appear to be regular music events on, so check it out. Not sure about parking. Outside the adjacent station was suggested but that only seemed to allow 30 minutes.
I like going here and the staff are usually very welcoming: indeed I should be here again this coming Friday. However, they need to realise that this isn't a bona fide nightclub, and turn the music down before around 10pm. It's just too loud before then to actually hear anyone other than the person immediately next to you (and that at a push!) After 10pm, only adults should be out in bars and clubs anyway.
The staff were friendly enough and I enjoyed an orange juice and a pint of coke zero. On the food front though I found it strange it wasn't possible to get a bowl of chips as apparently they don't have a fryer. I think chips should be pretty standard for somewhere like this. I ordered a vegan chicken sandwich. It came on what seemed like cheap white bread and without any cuttlery or surviette. I got a surviette from the bar side and got a knife and fork which were both in the same container. The sandwich had a lot of sauce on it which I didn't like at all. Maybe the sauce is an acquired taste I should've checked into before but it coming on cheap white bread and without cuttlery or surviette just seemed poor to me. Also I've never known a place like this not just be able to give a bowl of chips. I wouldn't recommend. Two stars for friendly enough staff, a clean environment and a couple of soft drinks.
