KEN and NAILI and staff extend a very warm welcome to all and look forward to ensuring that your visits to THE BARLEY MOW result in happy feelings of joy and contentment for you your family and your guests.
The lovely old English pub, THE BARLEY MOW is now under new management.
KEN and NAILI, whose experience in the pub trade exceeds twenty years are delighted to be back in the Colehill Wimborne area managing such an attractive venue.
Oliver Cromwell passed this way with his army on their trek to knock seven bells out of Corfe Castle some little time ago. The nearby Gods Blessing Lane is said to be where his troops were blessed before the battle.
Who knows, some of his lads may have popped into THE BARLEY MOW for a pub lunch and a pint or two before the fracas.
The new management are not sure on this point – they weren’t here then !
In later times part of the pub was the little village school. Hence the cartoon in the saloon referring to the Old School “Thai”.
The pub grounds are extensive with large secluded decking and grassed areas. Ideal safe places for children and families to enjoy the Summer sunshine whilst dining.
Special events will be arranged during the “good weather” months.
Music, steam engines, hog roasts etc. all in the attractive surrounding grounds.
Ample parking is available.

Lovely place. A great fire in the cold weather. Service was excellent see they not many staff. Didnt have long to wait for food. A bit expensive but chips were lovely.
Christmas day was so bad we had to share our views. £90 a head for 6 of us and we had 2 crackers, a Seleotaped santa paper table cloth, rolled processed turkey and over cooked potatoes- terrible tastless desert and tesco cheese board! The staff were miserable and stressed and I cannot say how bad the ladies loo floor was - at £8 a glass of wine you need to at least get things clean!
Food was good the home made specials are excellent and worth a try, a bit tucked away but worth a visit. The cost is below average, and beers are well kept a lovely pub.
Excellent food and fast, polite service. Staff/chef were kindly able to adapt from the menu to suit us. A good choice of pub food and also Thai meals.
Wow, what a lucky find. Stumbled across the Barley Mow when we were looking for somewhere for lunch. A beautiful old building, unspoiled but very comfortable and warm inside. Lovely atmosphere with lots of little separate areas. Great service and the food was excellent - a home made burger that was clearly all meat instead of padded out with bread, and the chips were to die for! Two fabulous ploughman's lunches too. And the cafetiere coffee was lovely too. Have already promised to return there with our friends 😊.
