Situated in the centre of Edinburgh’s New town, it is in close proximity to Queen Street Gardens, Princes Street shopping destinations and Waverley train station is also minutes away.
On entering the Auld Hundred, you are greeted by a traditional bar with exposed warm sandstone walls and a range of seating including comfortable settees. A spiral wrought iron staircase leads upstairs to the restaurant, Edinburgh’s hidden dining room.
The menu in our restaurant follows a very strong Scottish theme plus a great selection of traditional hearty pub food. Auld Hundred is dedicated to drinking and tasting good food in comfort and relaxation. Apart from cask ales, Auld Hundred’s extensive drinks menu includes premium, wine, beer, cider and malt whisky.
What a wonderful old pub! This place dates back to the 1800s and is strange and it's layout but, you can see that it is totally original. We only called in for a couple of whiskies. That was an amazing array of wee drams to choose from. Be careful to ask for the price as a few of them are really quite exclusive and or simply mixed with the rest of them in the bar. I will return.
Lovely food and absolutely fantastic service. The waitress (Rachael) was so lovely and really knowledgable about all the food. 10/10. And a great whisky selection too!
Since I was in Edinburgh, I wanted to try some authentic Scottish cuisine. Unfortunately, I found the Haggis main meal fairly bland, but that's more to do with my taste buds than the fault of the cooking (the cooking was fine). What I really liked was the service, atmosphere and the drinks. It was very warm and welcoming and the recommended cocktail was an excellent choice as I really enjoyed it. Plus I got a free beanie out if it!
We had our first meal in Edinburgh here after a long trip, and it was the best choice ever! The soup and salmon were good, and we loved the beer too. But the Balmoral chicken was simply the best and it definitely was something we never tried before. Now we are back in Korea and terribly miss the chicken already..🥲 we will definitely come back when we are back in town!
Luckily to find this bar in Edinburgh. Their whisky sauce is amazing, I tried haggis there. And the award wining cold town beer ( local Brewery) and of course the whisky taste plate. Don’t miss it. The live music and their service is impressive. Remember to book a seat. It’s very popular. I visited 2 times during my 4 days trip but definitely will return.
