Lovely lovely lovely -that's rooms food and service. From the minute we walked in -nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are in cottages both attached to the pub and also detached over the road. Very peacefull nights sleep as the village is very quite at night. Drinks in the bar are very reasonably priced considering your a captive audience! Food choice is superb -from the specials boards to the main menu . Plenty for all tastes- from fish to meats.will be back for both food and a night away !
Food & ambience was excellent. FOH chap was attentive, his staff were a bit ambivalent. It's a beautiful pub, in a beautiful village but beware, its pricey. We paid £95 per couple for good food but not Michelin star level. We had a private room for 8 looking out to Pendle Hill and stunning views.
Beautiful location and a really welcoming accommodation. We stayed two nights and we've been really looked after. The area lends itself to Beautiful walks to other pubs where there's always a roaring fire waiting. We'll be coming back without a doubt.
Upon arriving in Downham to visit my home town, I and my partner were a little jet lagged, Down Under to Downham in 24 hours will do that to you. Having settled in, I thought we should take a trip down memory lane to the Assheton Arms, what a nice surprise it is to see this beautiful place still going, on our travels to pub we got acquainted with a lovely couple who had just recently just tied the knot, we offered to take them to Assheton as a wedding gift. Good company, Good beer and a great Steak Sandwich, one of the best in fact. A trip down memory lane turned to a day we would never forget, Austin and Evie are coming to visit us in Melbourne in December and we’ve got the Assheton Arms to thank for that, Happy New Year everyone.
As a newly married couple not from this area we haven’t really explored. We met a lovely Australian couple on our travels that recommended the pub to us. We got on so well they accompanied us to the pub. We had a lovely pint of Estella and and the most amazing steak sandwich. With picturesque views of the surrounding hills and local farm life we had the most memorable time ( and made friends that we will defiantly meet up with again). Would recommend the Assheton Arms to anyone visiting this country bumpkin town.
