We had a nice meal here and I'd definitely go again. I went for the nut roast which was good, followed by the salted caramel tart which was very good, probably the nicest desert in quite some time. Everyone else enjoyed their meals with no complaints. I only had the one drink and there is a nice selection of local wines which I'll be trying next time. The staff were very friendly and efficient. There didn't seem to be a rush to get us out of there to free up a table which was nice although when the place was fairly empty, we were waiting around to find someone for the bill but it wasn't any bother. Overall, nice experience.
I've been coming to the Crown for a couple of decades, ever since it was redeveloped from a local pub. It's as good as ever. We all loved out meals and the service was great. One idea if I may. An extra vegetarian option on the mains menu would be good.
Really enjoyed a last minute planned overnight stay. Comfortable room, good menu and drinks offer. Three or four ales, lagers etc plus extensive wine list. Dog friendly. Nice location for touring south Suffolk. A well run, comfortable pub with classy rooms. Part of the Chestnut Group. We have used their pubs on other occasions for both food and stays. Would happily do so again and also happily return to the Crown. On this occasion (using offers) we (two of us) spent around £160 on accommodation and food.
We had a lovely evening with some friends where we were made to feel very comfortable straight away. Every member of staff we had the pleasure of helping us were all very approachable & friendly. It was really lovely to have a menu that was difficult to choose what to have for get course due to all sounding fantastic. We all thoroughly enjoyed every dish we had so much so we’re already planning our next visit to be able to enjoy some of the other dishes.
An excellent meal, not Bistro styles, but good hearty pub food cooked and served very well. The waitresses were very attentive, and I would like to express my gratitude to our waitress. At no time did we have to call over a waitress, which you need to do in some restaurants. Of course this is good business sense, as table can be turned round quicker. The food was very good, even the horseradish sauce.
