The Wheatsheaf is a traditional public house boasting original beams and a wonderful atmosphere. The pub has not been on the market for 22 years after the retirement of the outgoing publican. This business has full planning permission for an internal and external development, something the new publican should look to do. The internal trade area comprises a comfortably furnished, well presented traditional style lounge bar with copper topped bar servery, fixed upholstered customer seating and loose tables, chairs and bar stools. There is also a second bar area with beamed ceiling, open fireplace, and bar servery, and is decorated in the same style as the lounge. Externally, the pub benefits from a large beer garden to the side and a rear courtyard with access to the customer car park.
The improvement of this pub, since the new landlady, Sarah, has taken over has been immeasurable. The main saloon has a fresh vibrant feel, the staff are excellent, the beer amongst the best in Southwell and the clientele warm and welcoming. It's what a traditional pub experience should be. So if you're in Southwell, looking for a good drink in a relaxed environment, put it on your to do list. Enjoy!
Brilliant place to visit anybody welcolme from 18 to 99 beer is really good staff very friendly with customers and really enjoyed my visit
A friendly welcome from the locals and great beer is pretty much guaranteed here. One of those pubs where you can safely enjoy a beer or two without any hassle. Landlady was chatty and made the visit enjoyable too.
Smart new outdoors area adds to the atmosphere of this place - especially with a pint of well kept Harvest Pale
Good little pub. Plenty of old character. Ideally situated right next to the market. Great for a quick pint or coffee.
