Station pub in the former ballroom of the Great Eastern Hotel, offering budget meal deals, real ale.
Named after Lord Claud Hamilton, chairman of the Great Eastern Railway Company (1893–1923) which originally built Liverpool Street station. The pub is the former ballroom of the old Great Eastern Hotel.
Casual, relaxed ambience. Mixed crowd of pensioners, tourists, students & local workers. We visited late afternoon on a weekday. Comfortable temperature. Friendly staff. Food arrived promptly. Well presented, but not very hot.
Loved the decoration of the place. It looks so fancy for being just a pub. It's neat that the sitting room of the bathrooms overlooks the train station. They had quite a few beers on tap and we drank lots of jäger bombs. The staff could have been friendlier though.
The best service in the 'Spoon' I remember during the long time. Very climatic place even though in refurbishing project. Food served quickly, quality as expected, the staff at bars and all those cleaning tables wonderful, really friendly and helpful. It's located in the former ballroom of the old Great Eastern Hotel. It's in the City namely in Liverpool Street Station. Great range of craft beers. Really a nice place to drop in.
A great atmosphere with plenty of folk enjoying the warm weather. The big disappointment was the interior scaffolding hiding the decor. I will have to return when the refurbishment is complete.
Very disappointed after a few years haven’t been to Weatherspoon… They used to have very delicious chicken wings and ribs on the menu, but now no more. We ordered some deep fried chicken with chips and drinks, they were alright, nothing special. But the place still look nice at least.
