Good location and staff warm and friendly. They kindly accomodated us inspite of not having prebooked a table. Restaurant had good christmasy vibe. We had apple pear toddy , starter -3 way salmon, Haggis and roasted ox meat. Definitely recommend ox meat- very tender and cooked well
Sat outside here for a drink looking out over the Christmas markets below. Definitely would recommend if you're just looking for a drink and a sit down. Nicely decorated, friendly and helpful staff who offered a swift table service. The Guiness was good!
Food was really good, haven’t had all too much Scottish food but the haggis is noticeably good. Cullen skink is great, smoky creamy and surprisingly light but in the right ways. The scotch egg was tasty and served with a nice amount of haggis. Tad small but the haggis makes up for it. Haggis neeps and tatties, really delicious, great sauce with it as well. Homely and nice portion. Similarly mac and cheese was cheesy and nice, nothing too crazy but a good portion. Desserts were good, what would’ve driven it to a 9 to 10 out of 10 would be if the sticky toffee pudding was moister, I love a good sticky toffee but it was lacking in my opinion (though the salted caramel sauce was a good touch) Whiskey cranachan was very pleasant, between light and heavy cream can’t pinpoint it, very pleasant taste. Definitely order this. Good service nothing to hate at all, lovely people all around. Atmosphere is great, very Christmassy particularly with the Christmas lights, music choice was interesting but not bad.
* A note on grades, I rate outwards from three stars. * Cozy little spot to escape the crowds. Nifty, eclectic decor. We popped in for a pleasant lunch & everyone was very satisfied. Try the haggis scotch egg (pictured)!
