About us

The Wheatsheaf Hotel, Corbridge is a fully refurbished gem, nestling in the heart of the popular Roman town of Corbridge. Towards the eastern end of the Tyne Valley, Corbridge is famous for its individual boutique-style shopping and its charming streets and buildings.

The six bedrooms at The Wheatsheaf Hotel, Corbridge offer some of the most luxurious accommodation in the area. Re-opened in March 2009, they have been completely refurbished to a very high standard.

All bedrooms are equipped with digital Freeview flatscreen televisions, telephones and tea and coffee making facilities. The bedrooms have been finished off with Corbridge artwork from well-known local artist Eddie Tibbs.

Each room is individually decorated with colour schemes running through walls, window dressings and bed covers. Some rooms have lovely views of the Tyne Valley, whilst others have a view of the historic Roman village of Corbridge.

Your experience of a visit to The Wheatsheaf Hotel starts with a warm welcome by one of our front of house team. A quick check-in and we will carry your bags to your room where we will show you how everything works. If you want us to, we will then be right back with a jug of cold fresh milk and some warm homemade (yes, on the premises!) shortbread for you to enjoy a well-earned cup of tea after your journey. If a pint is more your thing then we have a wide range available at the bar, including three real ales, at least one of which will always be a local brew.

The Wheatsheaf Hotel has by far and away the best car parking facilities in Corbridge. Easy access from the road into a secure barrier controlled car park.

A wealth of activities is available to you during your stay at The Wheatsheaf.

Corbridge itself is renowned for its boutiques, arts and crafts, jewellers, antiques and furniture, food shops and much, much more. The 17th century bridge, roman sites and fascinating architecture will keep all non-shoppers interested. After a few hours in Corbridge, why not pop back to The Wheatsheaf for afternoon tea?.

Below average Sunday dinner. Staff were nice, friendly. Dinner was not great... v. undercooked veg, watery gravy, skinless chicken, but the roast pots and mash were good! The place was dead and had zero atmosphere which is a shame because, given its central location, plus carparking, it should be bustling.

Stayed in the hotel 1 night and can't fault anything. My room was nice, clean and had everything I needed. Comfy bed and quiet room. Food was lovely and staff were nice and helpful. Would definitely stay again

The restaurant staff were lovely, but the menu was limited, with many items being unavailable. The wait time was ridiculous even though there were only two tables taken. The food quality was poor, more like a café, we had come to celebrate a birthday . We gave up after 2 hours and one course and went home.

Called in for tea as I'd forgot to put my slow cooker on this morning. Ordered Scampi with mushy peas and chips. My other half had the burger. I must say we enjoyed our meal very much and that's the best scampi & chips I've ever had, mushy peas were amazing. They have Beaver Town Neck Oil on tap with fancy glasses to serve. You won't be disappointed as with previous management. Will definitely be back! The staff are lovely..Thankyou

Does what it says on the tin, nice comfortable bed and very friendly and accommodating staff. Just looking a bit well loved around the edges, some bits of damp. Breakfast was OK, good portions for the price, took 30 mins to come out and we were the only ones there. I went with a veggie breakfast with a poached egg, the egg whites tasted grainy so did not finish. The coffee was also not great
