About us

The Railway Bar

Having undergone an extensive refurbishment, we are now able to accommodate an exciting new bar area serving Coffee, Latte, Cappuccinos, Americanos, and various types of tea.

Providing the perfect space to relax, socialise and indulge with family and friends, you’ll also be able to enjoy a whole host of home comforts, whilst sampling a wide range of local brews, including Wylam Best Ale and Fentimans Botanically Brewed Drinks, along with the traditional Theakstons, Heineken, Strongbow, Guinness, Amoretti, Fosters Larger and John Smiths.

Oh, and if bubbles and Prosecco are more your thing, our well stocked bar offers plenty of bottles of your favourite tipple too!

So, whether you’re looking to enjoy a relaxing drink with the other half after exploring the Northumberland countryside or an intimate evening with family and friends in a traditional pub setting, we are able to cater for all of your needs.

We even have a 50” flat screen TV in the bar where we regularly play the racing and occasional football game – we really do look after you!.

I had a last minute stay here on Christmas Eve, and despite the short notice and time of year, Calvin was extremely accommodating and sorted me out with a lovely room - even offering breakfast on Christmas morning!! A great place to stay in the heart of the village and highly recommended.

Great stay, all of the staff were wonderful and they were very accomodating with my slightly early breakfast request so I could get away early for work. I ate in the restaurant in the evening and can thoroughly recommend it as well.

Comfortable and clean room. Food delicious, husband's lactose allergy not a problem and catered for, even down to dairy free butter on his morning toast! Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this gem 👍

We had a lovely night here on a recent cycle touring trip. The staff were friendly and efficient, there was a secure place for us to lock the bicycles up overnight, and the room was very comfortable. We had a superb dinner in the bistro, and the breakfast was just as good. I'd very much recommend it.

I booked to stay overnight yesterday here for an post birthday celebration. The place was really lovely, the room we had was the superior room, very well decorated and had nice theme The staff were exceptionally friendly. Couldn't have been more helpful. The food was fantastic. We had the steak meal deal which was so tasty. The whole place has a nice ambiance, very relaxing and makes you feel so welcome. Would recommend. The village itself is very quiet there are two others places to eat and drink plus there is a social club.
