About us

The Griffin is a brand new Taylor Walker to open in Leeds. It was previously know as Bar Censsa and before that The Griffin Hotel. Now, The Griffin has had a grand refurbishment but still keeping the connection to its famous past harking back to when it was a hotel of the highest accord on Boar Lane. Boasting illustrious Gothic revival architecture, designed by Thomas Ambler for its construction in 1872 the former hotel is an important part of Leeds history. It’s home to a one of a kind Potts clock that adorns the corner of the building with the hours cleverly replaced by the words ‘Griffin Hotel’, and deep within lays the spot where the city’s beloved Leeds United Football Club was born.

I had the roast beef and yourkshire pudding. One of the best meals I've ever eaten. And I don't say that lightly. Fabulous

A decent pub in the city centre of Leeds. The staff are all friendly and service was pleasant. There are a good range of drinks to choose from but the prices are a bit high compared to other pubs in Leeds.

It was a busy weekend afternoon. Though the service time was high, we thoroughly enjoyed our food and the festive atmosphere. We ordered Fish n Chips, Halloumi fries, Garlic Prawns and Crispy Squid. All dishes were top notch and we enjoyed the lunch. Highly recommended.

Visited during Leeds Light Night on a Friday evening so it was busy in the pub, but we got there early enough for a table. Ordered via the app and drinks arrived, but missing one 😢. Wandered over to the bar to ask and was given the drink, as well as apologies which was polite and friendly and well appreciated thank you. The food arrived relatively quickly for a busy evening and no-one was disappointed. Considering this is a "Chain" pub the pie was pretty amazing. Left there feeling well fed anyway 😁. Atmosphere was fairly loud but that's to be expected at the time we visited. On the whole a good visit to a good pub 🍺🍺🍺🍺.

Good pub with a modern look and a very wide variety of beers, ciders and other liqueurs. I visited at night and it was a little noisy by the other patrons (who looked to be in their 20's), but it gave very good vibes. They show live sports here, too.
