Sitting on the corner of Gentleshaw Common, close to Burntwood, a popular destination for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. Ye Olde Windmill is built on the same principles of a good pint, great food and a warm welcome. The type of pub you want to spend time in, Ye Older Windmill provides a warm welcome and plenty of spaces to explore, with a snug bar and open fire, a spacious lounge and restaurant area, it also benefits from 3 outdoor spaces to enjoy views of the beautiful countryside, including a children's play area and a double crown green for an afternoon of bowls. Food is served all day and includes vegan and gluten-free options, a children's menu and Sunday Roast.
Went for sunday carvery, 3 choices of meat. We chose beef which melted in your mouth. Lots of vegetables to choose from and they were not hard which we love, there was roast potatoes, mash potatoes Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. Staff are all helpful and Julie is a lovely, chatty, bubbly person. She makes buying a pint a pleasure.
Lovely food, great service. Would definitely recommend. Very suitable for large parties, we had a table of 17 , all food came out at the same time and was very good value for money.
Visited for Sunday carvery, the food is beautiful and highly recommended. the staff are brilliant, friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is upstairs which are steep so not disabled friends but your able to be seated downstairs and a member of staff will bring your food to you, the restaurant is cramped with too many tables but nevertheless a great carvery and highly recommended
We ate in the bar. The food was really good. Just felt a little cramped at the table and ended up moving when some people left as did a few other people. Could do with looking at the layout. If this was sorted it would have been 5 stars all round
Attentive staff, lovely food & great value. Midweek deal makes the resturant well worth a visit. Set in the Chase surrounded by beautiful countryside & walks. Dog friendly. Highly recommend.
