Went for dinner last night 4 adults 1 highchair and walked in at 7.20pm. We've been in a couple of times before and had ok food so thought we'd give it another try. We went to the bar and asked for a table and were told we could only sit in the bar area which was fine but the place was empty ! Went to the bar to ask for menus and were told that the kitchen was closing at 7.30 - 7.45 so we'd need to order quickly. We explained that we were waiting for another couple and were told if the kitchen is shut - it's shut!! We should have walked out at this stage but had made arrangements to meet there so left it as someone just having a bad day. We ordered starters and mains and waited for our food. Our friends joined us before the starters had been brought out and we were told that the kitchen was shut so they couldn't order, the attitude of the lady behind the bar was terrible, they quite clearly didn't want us there and were already clearing down the bar washing drip trays and stripping off the bar. Our starters arrived and we asked the waiter to ask the kitchen if we could add two chicken burgers to our order, he did and came back and said no problem. The food itself was very average with tough overcooked calamari, the additional cheese that was supposed to have been added to the burgers arrived on a plate and the prawn linguine was absolutely tasteless. We were trying to order more drinks and the staff were more interested in cleaning than serving us, no one came to clear the table or ask if we wanted desserts. Really really poor all round experience, somewhere we certainly won't be going back to or recommending to anyone. Food and glasses still on the table at 10.30pm and to top it all off - people coming into the bar ordering drinks and eating take away food from the fish and chip shop up the road !!
Came for a wedding anniversary meal... Presentation of the food was good. The roast beef was like old shoe leather. Roast potatoes were well over seasoned. Yorkshire pudding had the texture and taste of cardboard... gravy was pretty damn good though. Left feeling hungry. At £17.50 I would expect a much better Sunday dinner. The over all cost for 6 of us was £176.70. and to add insult to injury... There was a member of staff with dyed red'ish long hair who kept staring at our group after we finished our meal. I really don't appreciate being made to feel like we were "In the way" especially after spending that kind of money. Other than that, the staff were lovely and polite and friendly. I'd have given an extra star if I had not been made to feel so damn uncomfortable.
Lovely rooms at a great price. A very convenient place to stay for the area, close to main roads. Good selection of room types, all with all the amenities you might need and breakfast included. Good food available in the pub. Service excellent and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Already stayed twice and we'll be back again in the future.
Went as a party of 12 to celebrate the 40th birthday 🎂 🥳 of a friend from work. Food was amazingly good value. Portions are a generous size and cooked really well. In fact going again in a couple of weeks to celebrate another friend's birthday.
Great location. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was great. We had an evening meal and breakfast in the morning. Our room was was clean. Bed very comfortable. Overall a great experience. The price was very reasonable.
