About us

From the early 20th century, the Nightingale was known as the Berkeley Knot, and before that, the Crown Inn. The inn drew much of its trade from visitors cycling through White Ladies Aston who stopped for refreshment en route.

A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Whether you are planning dinner with friends or Sunday lunch with family, book a table online and enjoy some quality time with those you love the most.

The quality of the food was very good and the roast sirloin superb. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient. We had a very good seat close to the open fire but it was hard to attract attention. In training I would suggest to staff they constantly look around the room and return to table to ask if anything else is needed. I will return for sure.

Went here in December with a group of friends for a Xmas gathering. We had a lovely time and enjoyed the food very much. The menu choice was plentiful and the service was good too. Ample parking and easy to find.

Previously in 2021... Lovely food and atmosphere which was cosy and inviting. Service excellent, the waitress was informative and helpful. Definitely on the ball. Will most certainly be going back again... Went back again and again but unfortunately the food and menu declined, service reduced due to shortage of serving staff and so it went on. Last visit in December 2023 had a steak and venison pie which was pure gristle. Couldn't cut it with a knife, never mind chew it. It was taken off the bill and I hope that they will be taking it up with the suppliers. Really not a nice experience.

A really nice, welcoming inn full of character, away from a town and with plenty of parking. Quite a nice selection of beers, and a lovely menu with plenty of choice. I took my son here for his 17th Birthday meal and he recommends the Ribeye steak. I had a turkey roast dinner, which was delicious, although not enough on it's own portion wise, so I added extra options. Not the cheapest menu, but very tasty. Staff are polite & friendly One thing worth knowing, download their app, great rewards, not silly points, actual free stuff...my pint of Peroni was free ... would've given 4.5 if there was the option! 😎
