The Woodborough is set right in the centre of the busy village of Winscombe. Surrounded by the Rolling Mendip Hills, it is conveniently located within easy reach of Cheddar, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol Airport and the A38 to Bristol.
With a large comfortable bar, separate restaurant and skittle alley/function room, it really is at the heart of life in the village. During the summer of 2015 the pub was decorated inside and out and the right had bar and skittle alley altered to create a more contemporary feel. The inclusion of a large raised hearth with a log burner has made this a cosy space. Upstairs, we have 7 well appointed ensuite bedrooms.
The surrounding area has plenty to offer those who enjoy the great outdoors. Walkers will enjoy the Mendips (AONB), Cheddar Gorge and the lovely Burrington Combe. It is also popular with cyclists, who in addition have the famous ‘Strawberry Line’ cycle way, which passes within 200 yds of the Woodborough.

We were a large party who had pre-ordered and I was amazed at how all our courses came out all together, there was no waiting for others to get their food and it was all piping hot. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was bloody delicious and the the atmosphere was fab. I highly recommend a visit. X
Attractive pub in a hotel in Winscombe. V popular. We had dinner; group of 5 of us. Basic pub fare done pretty well; generous portions & great nachos. Dogs welcome in the bar & skittle alley. Super nice staff.
Beautiful steaming hot breakfast served, not buffet & included in price. Chatty friendly staff. Warm atmosphere. Bed wonderful, room large & bathroom, shower perfect. Excellent value for money.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Accommodation is excellent, the bed was so comfortable I didn't want to leave it. The staff were amazing and so helpful, especially Reuben and Howell. Food is fantastic and very good value. Location is perfect. Not sure why someone has given this Inn a 1 star review. Parking has not been a problem during our stay. Will definitely come again.
Stayed here for a long weekend. Pub nice decor, great selection of drinks and friendly staff. Restaurant section was fab, food lovely, home made and fresh with decent portions. Sunday lunch very good. Our room was spotless, good sized room and bathroom. All felt really fresh. The staff are so lovely here, very welcoming and good at their jobs. We were grateful for the level of service we received from both front of house and those behind the scenes. Would 100% stay here again. Highly recommended

The Star Inn at Star is now open. We have purchased the building 'lock, stock and barrel' and opened on Friday 11th May 2018 as an independent Freehouse Pub and Restaurant.
