Stopped in due to staying at Premier Inn next door. I was served by Kelly & Beth. Due to work I am often on my own so not only did they make me welcome but I was treated to exceptional service. My meal was first class. Best of all having just been in Belfast on the weekend served a beautiful pint of Guinness complete with the perfect dome. If only the taste match Irish ☘️ Guinness. Thanks to all including Green King as I got an extra 13% discount by using my Blue Light Card. (I’m not a copper! 😬)
Family Birthday meal. Plenty of choice on the menu. We were a table for 6, one no dairy, one vegetarian and there were options for all ages and requirements. Kelly served us and was a great help, lots of attention to detail, drinks, sauces etc. Food came quickly, was hot and delicious. Food got 4/5 because the sharing (whole) Camembert only came with two tiny pieces of bread… but this was sorted when we asked. Only a small issue. A really nice easy evening out. Highly recommend.
I almost never wrote this review out of fear of the manager who is rarely seen but her scariness is felt. I decided it’s the right thing to do. The food has improved but still many of their dishes are dodgy. See the picture with food floating in red oil. The staff on the other hand are hit and miss. They employ some lovely people who don’t stay and it’s a shame, because they were nice people genuinely trying to do a good job. They soon feel the fear of working there, the toxicity and leave. The longer service staff are like a syndicate in the restaurant and are outwardly rude if you’re a nice kind and tolerate their rudeness. Sad but that’s how it is. I wouldn’t be surprised if head office see the long-standing staff as “untouchables” because they’ve been getting away with this behaviour for so long.
The interiors of the pub cum restaurant were as grand as of a Manor House. The decor was authentic old school. The food was sumptuous and was beyond our expectations. Keep it up.
Friendly staff upon entrance, they had a good start. Service wise it declined as the night went on. When several members of the group required more beverages. Food was okay, some parts of the meal was cold. Understandably if all the food came out in one go I would expect it to be warm, but not if there was intervals between plates arriving. Dessert wise, looked descent, although they forgot to bring out one dessert dishes. Other remarks: - Had to go up twice to ask for service / request missing item(s). - Surprisingly quite for a Saturday evening. - My party was a group of 10+
