Great traditional country pub....Great food, choice of beers and ciders. Give it a try!

Yes, it is conveniently close to the A303 and the A36 as the online reviews will keep reminding you. But, it is also Food Hygiene Standards Rated 1. 1 out of a possible 5 that is not very good, is it? The reviews don't mention this fact quite so much. The only "homemade" products here are the monotonous self serving online reviews. Quaint, yes. quintessential, yes, best "pub grub" ever, no.....bla bla bla bla bla. Aunt Bessies frozen Yorkshires, yes. etc, etc.. Every positive review is soooooo similar it could lead a rational person to thinking the worst of some people and their conduct. The burger van in the layby just down the road is even more convenient and has a cleaner toilet if you are only looking for a "MacPloppie". Don't do yourself out of 100 quid just to push this mush round your plate so your kids can use a toilet. Drive 3 minutes further down the road and use a free one, then eat at your leisure in any of the local establishments than can look you in the eye.

Great little pub and B&B. Stopped here for a night while visiting Longleat. The rooms are a little rough around the edges but are more than acceptable for the price charged. Food was fantastic and, I would say, underpriced. Breakfast was great and just the right amount to get going for the day. Service here is exceptional with really friendly staff.

Beautiful rural pub with so much history in the walls. The food is really good and the service is way above average too. Always enjoy stopping in.

A wonderful, cozy spot with engaging and generous people behind the bar and kitchen. The beet burger is brilliant. Perfect for vegetarians. The Poughman’s a great choice for a snack. They also make their own Ale, which is delicious. Highly recommend.
