About us

The pub was originally built as two thatched cottages, of cob construction, in the early 1800's. The cottages were joined to make one building in circa 1870 to form The Plume of Feathers that exists today. The Plume started by selling Gibbs ales brewed nearby in Salisbury and still sell locally brewed beers today. Currently, beers on sale are from the Wadworth Brewery, Devizes and from the Plain Ales Brewery in Sutton Veny, near Warminster.

Paul has been in the pub trade for many years and will always be on hand to serve you. The Plume is the first pub Francesca has ever operated but she hasn't completely given up her day job as a teacher!.

Popped in with some mates for a few pints last night and had a great time! The new landlord & lady Colin & Sara where great hosts. We wish them all the best of luck from all of us here at The Bell Inn, Winterbourne Stoke 🙏🏻

We popped by, and it turns out you need a booking for lunch, but there was still an option for food, so we just had that. I did try to call beforehand, but the number doesn't exist online... anyway we didn't have to make a choice between food, so it made things faster for us. There's parking available. The food was good, cheap, and fast. Highly recommended.

Please go to this friendly little pub. The Beer is very good and well kept and cheap! And although the menu was quite limited they had something for everyone it was really really good value home-made and very tasty. Nothing not to like about this friendly little local. We will definitely return when in the area.

Popped in for lunch and all change here, new landlord/lady. Tea and lunch menu beef and ale hotpot with fresh bread. Really really tasty homemade food - could not of been better. Tray of tea and very affordable. Sandwiches and salads also on the menu. Clean calm and quiet- perfect for a lunch break when on the road. Definitely be back here. Highly recommended 😎

The new owners Colin and Sara are great hosts, quick and easy service, lunch was filling and affordable. Returned last night (Friday) for some ale, a great and pleasant atmosphere, busy and friendly. Everything a pub should be!
