Would definitely recommend staying here but not in the room with the copper bath. Our welcome was warm and friendly. The staff were really helpful and answered all questions. Breakfast was really good, the choice was exceptional. Evening meal was very good and the amount plentiful. The log burner was really inviting and made you want to stay in the bar. So many lovely walks around the area. Disliked · Our room was the double with the copper bath. The bath is really nice to look at, but is too big for that room. The room as a whole feels disjointed and the shower in the room was messy. Lovely views from the small bedroom window.

Stayed one night. Clean room. Comfort bed. Bar closed at 9pm. The evening meal was nice. We both had the burger. Breakfast was good. A bit short on staff. I had to wait for someone to come out so I could pay the bill.

We ate here twice over two nights, and both times were excellent. The service and atmosphere was great. The food was lovely. We had mini fish and chips, and the leg of lamb was melt in the mouth. They also sat us next to the log fire, which made for a cosy, country feel. Would definitely visit again.

Stayed in the shepherds huts . Very comfortable but very limited kitchen equipment for cooking. Lovely and snug and wood fired hot tubs easy to fire up and run. Excellent smart TV with great WiFi for snuggling in to watch a movie after the pub. The pub was glorious, food lovely and again the roaring log fires were delightful. Beers on offer were lovely and the service was friendly and attentive. Three mile flattish off road walk to Coniston, take a torch just in case! Would stay again and maybe try the cottages for more space.

Popped in last minute for a meal. Provided a table quickly even though it was busy. Nice choice of food. I had a steak. Really nice piece of meat. My son enjoyed his macaroni cheese and garlic bread. No room for puddings! Nice atmosphere and beautiful setting.
