Today was our first visit since before Covid and we weren't at all impressed - we used to be regulars at one time but we won't be back after this experience. Although there was a good variety on the breakfast buffet, everything we put on our plate was barely lukewarm and dry as a bone. Unlike previously, there was no toast on offer...The coffee was the one redeeming feature - it wasn't particularly good coffee but it was the only hot thing on offer...The fact that the restaurant was virtually empty spoke volumes....
Great place for the family to have a meal. The food is great quality and decent portion sizes. The ice cream selection is great. The venue is cosy and clean. Staff are friendly.
I ordered 11 Christmas lunches to be delivered on Christmas Day to an assisted living apartment block. Firstly I was told 11am and didn’t arrive till 11:45 which was not to much a problem but once it did arrive and I took it into the kitchen it had no gravy, all the wrong meats where delivered, I asked specifically for no stuffing and all the meals where covered in it. The lunches looked unsightly with red cabbage and mushy pea stain all over the rest of the dinner, I tried to rescue it but with no success the whole lot had to go in the bin other than the meat. The Yorkshire puddings were also inedible as covered in soggy red cabbage juice. The carrots were black and hard. I returned to the pub myself to collect the right meat that I ordered. As a result the whole dinner had to be made again with things I had in. On the whole a very stressful situation, I use the willow farm a lot and did not expect this from them.
I've been there twice now, once for the carvery and the other for the a la carte menu. It was good both times. The carvery is as expected, good. The menu is quite good too. They are a Greene King restaurant and pub but they have a different menu from the usual ones, much better ones. Good cake selection as well.
I am incredibly disappointed with the meal which was served to me last week, and as a regular I am appalled that this is allowed to leave the kitchen judging by previous meals I have received which have been impeccable. I will not be returning as I am disgusted. The 'Curried Chicken Skewer' is supposed to include salad, yoghurt and mint sauce, spring onions and a pot of curry sauce separate. I have family who work for Greene King and they would not allow this meal to leave the kitchen as it is an embarrassment to company standards.
