About us

The Wight Mouse Inn is a great base to begin exploring along the southern stretch of the Island for walkers, cyclists and families. After a lazy lunch go out and see just what this rugged stretch of coast has to offer.
For walkers, there is the Tennyson Trail which can be joined at Compton Down along the Military Rd which is accessible by bus. This area of outstanding national beauty leads on to Afton Down, Freshwater Bay and onto the westbound coastal path to Tennyson Down, the Tennyson monument and past the Needles Battery to Alum Bay.

The meal and experience went from ten to zero very quickly. The bar was short of glasses and substituted with smaller glasses, this would be fine if they didn't try to charge us full price. The kitchen and bar stuff obviously can't or don't communicate with one another. I understand the order was rather big, but 10 minute gaps between orders that we were told they would send together (informed them by their request once last of us had ordered) isn't acceptable. The waiters need more training, very aloof.

We have been visiting the Wight Mouse for years. The food and drink are delicious with lots of choice. It is also very reasonable. The staff are very friendly and are always happy to help. This is a great place for families and also dog friendly. There is a massive beer garden and play equipment for smaller children. You get a great view from there as well.

We booked here for the views, access to walks and for it being very dog friendly. A great place, with friendly staff and nice menu, including specials each day. The weather regrettably was poor on the Saturday so we didn’t get to do the walks we wanted to, but there are plenty nearby including the coast path. However we had a great lunch with family and this led into later in the afternoon with a few more drinks and great atmosphere. The room we had was very spacious, clean and tidy. The bathroom was to a good standard also. Whilst comfortable, the mattress was a little too soft for my liking, but this is obviously individual preference. Breakfast was included in the price and there is a good range of choice and very flavoursome. We will certainly look to stay again in the future when doing a weekend stay as it was overall well priced and good value for money.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Wight Mouse Inn. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was very spacious, clean, with a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom and very nice shower. The breakfast was freshly prepared and delicious. We ate in the pub on 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it also. We appreciated the dog friendliness, and the outdoor seating areas. There are lots of areas for walking, hiking and enjoying the incredible views. Parking was available and free. It was just a short drive to many of the tourist attractions. One item that could be improved is the lock/security of the door to the room (we felt very safe, and only noted it as a potential issue). We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this Inn for a relaxing, comfortable location.

Haven't been here for a while. Took the whole family for a Sunday Lunch as it was mine and missus wedding anniversary. Can't fault the food, didn't have to wait long and it was very tasty. Steak n Ale pie was packed with tender beef. Kids loved their meals too. Only issue is the cost of eating out is more expensive. Cost over £65 for 3 adult meals and 2 kids meals. Apart from that it's a lovely pub with great views across the channel on a clear day you can see the Needles. Only grip was the constant issue with wasps.
