I booked a carvery here after seeing it advertised outside and thought for the price it would be a nice treat. I booked a table the day before, initially wanting a table at 5pm but was told the carvery can only be guaranteed until 3 so I booked for 3. We’re doing dry January so wanted to order the non-alcoholic options. The first we ordered we were simply told “we can’t make that” with no explanation why even though it was on the menu, then 2 other non alcoholic drinks we were told they had we then had the waiter come back to our table and say they didn’t in fact have any. We then ordered 2 carveries, as we booked for. We were first told there was no turkey, then told there was but the carvery had been taken in (not what I was told on the phone) and it would be plated up, but if I wanted a plated up roast I would have gone somewhere else. However we said we would have this and a short while later our waiter came back and said now that they didn’t have enough turkey for our roasts so we said we would go Now we’re off to Toby Carvery which has never let me down and we won’t be coming back here!
I’ve stayed at the hotel a couple of times and was pleased with the room, and the service. Everyone is friendly and happy to help. The food is excellent, especially the hash browns with breakfast!
We didn't stay at the hotel, but ate the Sunday carvery in the restaurant and the food was amazing. It was one of the best carveries I have ever been too, with the best gravy I've ever tasted. The staff were friendly but unfortunately we didn't get a drink until more than 30 minutes after sitting down, so it wasn't great. We were also told we were too late for the carvery (it was 15:15) but could still get a roast from the kitchen, but this advice changed three times, and we were eventually directed to the carvery. Then upon helping myself to some horseradish sauce at the end of the counter I was told "oh, that was for somebody else". It left us scratching our heads in confusion. It didn't ruin the experience at all, it was just a bit strange. Hopefully this was a one off though and a simple oversight, and we'll certainly return to find out.
We went for a roast with my grandma. Everyone was really accommodating to her needs and extremely friendly. Food is good value for money and location is good. Thank you for being lovely.
I met some old friends here this week. Beautiful place. It wasn't busy so the bar staff were extremely attentive. We had the pate and salt n pepper squid. They were both fantastic choices. I would definitely eat there again. They were also very welcoming to my dog. Unfortunately, I have not stayed there.
