Went here for Christmas dinner. The atmosphere and service was perfect, couldn’t complain about that. However, the food was not up to standard. Many people in our party ordered a traditional Christmas dinner, which had extremely burnt Yorkshire puddings. I myself ordered a Christmas burger and the meat was extremely dry, topped with rubbery cheese. Great little pub, great staff, and a great atmosphere. Unfortunately the food just wasn’t up to scratch.
Lovely pub & restaurant with a great team front of house. It benefits from being on the outskirts of the overly busy town centre and is certainly worth the extra few yards walk to visit. A good selection of ales on tap plus many gins, spirits, and wine. The menu offers a good selection across all courses, and the food never fails to delight - well designed, cooked, and presented. Visited mid-afternoon, so it was quiet but we enjoyed a fine meal. We'll be back quite soon!
We called the White Lion before we went for Sunday Lunch in advance as we have a very nervous dog, so we asked them if there was somewhere we could sit outside, out of the way. They were very busy but so accommodating!! We decided to have a couple of drinks but not to stay and eat as our Lab was getting nervous. They boxed us up a Sunday lunch to take back to our lodge and it was AMAZING!! So tasty and the meat and roasties were delicious!! Highly recommend!! Lovely staff and the service was great. Thank you for understanding and accommodating to our needs!!
Fantastic food, entertainment and drinks. We went on a Wednesday for some food and quiz and was a brilliant night. Brought our dog along which staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Chose streak and ale pie and it did not disappoint. Chips were fantastic and portion was very generous wish I could have fitted a dessert in! Decent selection of premium lagers and served a variety of hot and cold drink. Pub quiz was well attended and enjoyable, well organised. Only visiting but would be a regular spot should it be a local. Thanks very much!
This was the chosen venue for drinks & buffet after an Uncles funeral today .I found out the carpark is fairly small with very tight parking spaces ,infact I decided to park off site in the end along with another relative as i didn't want to struggle getting out of my car or risk my car getting a dent .Inside I found the pub very clean with plenty of available tables in different areas.The staff on duty were very pleasant indeed when serving drinks behind the bar or glass collecting.Theres a large outdoor seating area for when the weather is good .Toilets are located upstairs & I found the gents to be nice & clean. Apart from the parking up issues on arrival, I enjoyed my visit to this pub & wouldn't hesitate on returning back again in the future .
