Castle Street has many Georgian town houses.Lawrence House is a museum, containing the history of the town from prehistoric times to the present day. A very warm welcome on arrival from all the staff, to then be greeted by the owners Dan & Viki, of which adds a nice touch to running a good establishment. Our food was prompt and very good value for money. The pub overall seems to offer a happy family atmosphere, as well as catering for all ages, with the events they put on. Totally recommend a visit and definitely the food. Looking forward to the next we visit.
Service was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and the food was amazing đź‘Ź. We had a Sunday carvery and was honestly the best we've had. The treacle tart with ice cream was delicious and they were kind enough to put my leftovers in a foil container. Will definitely revisit regularly and highly recommend đź‘Ś
I had the vegan bean burger, points for it not being a fake meat one. the burger itself was not a bad burger, however it had been deep fried and was not cooked enough on the inside. there was also an unusual amount of carraway seeds on the outside of the burger which dominated the flavour. As you can see in my photo, the greenery provided with the burger was in my opinion the wrong option. a tomato or onions would have also been nice considering it was a ÂŁ15 meal. the staff however were really friendly and the atmosphere was fairly pleasant.
We popped in here for a Sunday roast with my 86 year old mum for her birthday as it was a good location for us and dog friendly. We had a great time. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was fun and buzzing and the food was really lovely and great value for money. Mum said that she couldn’t fault it, which is praise indeed if you know my mum! They had even provided treats for the dog which was a lovely touch. Please do pop in here if you’re in the area as you won’t be disappointed I’m sure.
Fantastic service for myself and family on Friday. We were staying in the area and were helped immensely with sorting out taxis so we could all enjoy a drink. Food was amazing, and very generous portion sizes. If we're ever in the area again we will not hesitate to come and visit again!
