White Horse Inn, Stourpaine

About us

The White Horse is a traditional public house, steeped in heritage, in the quaint village of Stourpaine on the A350 just outside Blandford Forum. Dating back to the early 18th Century this pub was originally two buildings converted into one. Today, the inside provides an open-plan layout with bar, restaurant, shop, post office, games-room & wood burning stoves. The external provides a decorative covered outdoor decking area at the rear and a seating area out the front.

Chris Sargent, the Licensee, has a long running history as a trained chef and uses his experiences to create all of our dishes. Chris and his team provide a warm and friendly atmosphere for you to enjoy, welcoming all well-behaved children. Dogs are also welcome in the bar, on the decking area to the rear and seated area out the front.

Absolute gem of a pub, excellent Sunday lunch which was massive. Staff were lovely and very attentive. The pub was lovely, warm, inviting and quirky. Have been before for steam up but had to re visit to try the food and so glad we did. Lovely experience and we will definitely return

Stopped here on a whim returning from holiday and it turned out to be a real treat. Old fashioned pub with good selection of real ales, excellent food (recommend the honey & mint lamb) and a lovely atmosphere. Notable were the waitresses chatting to clients dining on their own and the locals at the lively bar were welcoming.Mains had lots of veg in side dishes + desserts to die for (& drinks) for three came to £31 per head. If every village in England had a pub like this, it would restore a true sense of community. We will definitely return there, as we were spoilt for choice on the day.

Lovely traditional pub with a wide range of beer and good food. We visited on a Thursday evening and it was pretty busy. I think it is one of the only pubs in Stourpaine, but service was great and the food was lovely. I had the steak pudding and chips, which I've not had for years but it was gorgeous. My wife had ham, egg and chips, which again she said tasted delicious. The pub has a whole raft of service mens hats dotted throughout the place and has had a visit by King Charles when he was a prince. Lovely place, well worth a visit.

Visited here twice for food whilst on our stay and we were certainly not disappointed at all. As you can see from our photos from our evening meals they were delicious, they were presented well and they tasted fantastic. Well worth the money we paid and the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It's also dog friendly and our dog loved it as well. Do not miss out when visiting Stourpaine.

Our first visit to The White Horse. We were halfway along a local trail way walk and followed signs to reach this delightful establishment. Nice welcome, good quality ale, food and service. Fortunately we were there at midday and had an early lunch. Otherwise they were fully booked. Looking forward to an evening visit.
