We dined here on Sunday & everything was incredible from start to finish. The staff were great, went over & above to ensure we had a great time. The food & drinks were fantastic and we tried almost every small plate on the menu during our 4 hour lunch Cocktails were some of the best in the city Would highly recommend!
We visited The White Horse, enticed by its reputation as an excellent spot for seafood and oysters, our favorites. Despite boasting an 'Oyster Happy Hour,' the selection was limited to just three types of oysters, though each was admittedly of good quality. The oysters, while limited in variety, were well-executed, and the staff was commendable. The Crab Scotch Egg and the fish were enjoyable. However, the Charred Octopus was a disappointment. We expected a texture similar to crab legs – easy to chew and almost melting – but found it unusually firm, more akin to chicken. It was only after expressing our concerns to the waiter that we learned of its unique Scottish origin from St. Andrews, which accounted for the different texture. Had we been informed beforehand, we might have approached it with a more open mind, rather than comparing it to our usual expectations.
Great seafood, very fresh and tasty. Oysters are amazing, we re-ordered six after first round. Ordered a bottle of white, very nice. The scallop and mussels are magnificent, out of our expectation. Also, the crab straw fries are delicious 🤤
Recommended by a friend to visit here and we were not disappointed. Staff were very friendly and recommended the right amount of dishes (3/4 per person). The flavours were out of this world. I recommend the crab scotch egg, prawn and lobster toast, tempura prawns, crab straw fries, and the sourdough bread with garlic and seaweed butter. Everything paired so beautifully, and the oyster was my husband's first and he was very impressed. We booked the night before and were surprised to get a table, I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. We will definitely be visiting here again on our next trip, a brilliant restaurant.
Second time visiting, first time visit was amazing! The food was really good! Hard to imagine what it taste like from the menu thus a bit surprise but in an absolutely good way! However second visit was during happy hour where the oyster was only £2. BUT for just four oysters we have waited for longer than half an hour. Which really pushes me off, doubt this special price worth the long wait. Can’t recommend more on the food but please be ready for the WAIT.
