Lovely cosy pub, lit fires and a lovely ambiance. It was my grandpa’s birthday and all the staff were really welcoming and lovely all coming to wish I’m happy birthday! Excellent very high standard pub food.3 courses for such a good price. I had a fish which was cooked to perfection with a lovely crips flavoursome skin!
A birthday meal gone a bit sour! Served by a great guy Eric Our experience was really mixed. I’m not sure if the kitchen was understaffed and therefore overwhelmed as we waited over an hour for our meal. By the time our meal did arrive we could have eaten a dead horse! My husbands meal was well prepared and looked delicious. Mine on the other hand was a disaster! After waiting over an hour , what came out was embarrassing…. Both for me and Eric! What has started life as a piece of prime beef had been incinerated to within an inch of its life. He did offer to make another but the prospect of perhaps another lengthy delay was a culinary turnoff! On the plus side the chips and the peppers sauce were delicious! Eric was very apologetic! Pudding was a great slab of sticky Toffee pudding in a pool a sticky sauce which for me the highlight of the meal. I’m pretty sure they were just having an off day!
An exceptional experience at the White Hart at Lydgate. We had a large party of 10 people for lunch at the restaurant. The table was laid out perfectly, in a private area and ready on our arrival. Service from Pippa and the team was professional and friendly and the food was amazingly good , cooked to perfection, really impressed as it was from a set menu and such a large number of us. The wine menu is extensive and really impressive. A thoroughly rememberable experience for all the right reasons. Would definitely recommend and we'll 100% be back.
We were really disappointed with Christmas dinner. First time I've been out for Christmas in many years as I always host. It was a special treat from my daughter. We were left standing for 20 minutes, including my 90 year old Dad. No greeting or acknowledgement. We had to find people and ask twice before we were seated. The table wasn't even set properly. Had to ask for lots of things. Including nearly every course. We were there for almost 4 hours. Our Christmas evening was ruined. Food was quite good when we eventually got it. Can't recommend it, unfortunately. .
We just came for food, not use of the inn. This was a really good experience. My Nan had just come out of hospital, so we took her for a posh Sunday dinner. They were so accommodating for her, it was very appreciated! The food was a little rich for her, but it was very nice! Was a little disappointed in the fried pineapple, it was a very small piece, and I was expecting some sort of seasoning. But it was hot pineapple with a side of coconut ice cream. Ah well! Live and learn :) Also, the Nut Roast could use a little work. I did think it was overall very pricey for what it actually was (£30 for two courses), but we knew that going in, and I can't fault the service at all. Lovely staff, attentive but not over bearing! Recommend this place for special occasions, but due to the price being a bit much for what you get, I wouldn't recommend for just a standard Sunday Dinner.
