New owners started 2 weeks ago and made us feel really welcome. The light bites they offered us, although simple, we're absolutely delicious! The ham and cheese toasties, cheesy homemade chips, and beef soup were all demolished by adults and fussy kids! Tea and coffee were much appreciated on a stormy day. Highly recommend a visit to support the new management.
We're local and never been here before until recently. Best food & service we've had for quite a long time (and we've eaten at a lot of places over the years!) Food was delicious, beef fillet was cooked to perfection. Staff and chef were lovely, personal and accommodating to food intolerances. Shall definitely be back for the Sunday roast!
Food here is the best you’ll find for miles. We had an amazing 3 course family meal while staying at the Pub visiting family locally. Dishes for everyone, kids loved it too. All the food locally sourced and is made in house by a talented well travelled and experienced chef. Right down to the burger buns and sorbets. Rooms were clean tidy and warm, just what was expected. Breakfast in the morning was the best we’ve had for a while, all freshly cooked to order with good quality ingredients. Definitely worth a visit and make sure you stay for dinner. Will be returning for sure. Thanks again.
Fantastic restaurant in the heart of Modbury. The food was absolutely delicious. My wife was allergic to one element of her dish and the chef swapped it out without any fuss. We shared a sticky toffee pudding (one of the best I've ever had) and the chef plated it separately for us to make it easier to eat. Couldn't fault the cooking or the staff. Refreshing to see the bill doesn't come with a service charge already added, we tipped anyone because everything was so good! We will be going back.
Been here a few times now and I really enjoy the whole experience. The new Landlords have really nailed this place! I thought I would leave a review because I have stayed here for 3 weekends now. Each time I have been made such a fuss of and made to feel so welcome. I am very surprised about the negative reviews because it doesn't correspond to my experience there. I also speak about my whole party which was at least 4 people each time. The hospitality is absolutely top draw. First of all the food is absolutely spectacular. Such a lovely menu and you always walk away very satisfied. The Roast Dinner is a highlight on a Sunday. I really enjoy the salad bar. Chips are really nice! And the Coffee is superb! I also have to say that relaxing by the fire after a good feed is a lovely feeling. 5 star accommodation, so cosy in the rooms and romantic but also great for families. It is just such a lovely and cosy pub. Roaring fire with lovely seats. Great atmosphere. A truly incredible selection of beverages. Really tasty and wholesome food. Choice of two bars. Love the old school vibe of this place. The St Austell beers are a real highlight. There is a Pool table and a Dartboard upstairs which is such a laugh and also a rare past-time these days! I travel from London regularly because I just love to get out of the big smoke and spend time in nature and by the sea. I used to stay at the Exeter Inn but The White Hart Hotel has become my new favourite for myself, friends and family. Because we can use it as a base at the hotel and enjoy lovely meals when we are there and little Modbury, which is so quaint, and very English! I hope this review has been helpful, in depth and informative. I only really give out reviews for places that truly deserve it. I am returning in a few weeks with another big group of us! That's how much I love it! So look no further than this lovely place for a great weekend or for food!
