On busy crossroads in the centre of town this pub has a main drinking area and bar formed out of two rooms knocked through with a smaller room, comfortably furnished with sofa and armchairs, near the front door.
Described as 'a weekend pub' there are often live bands on Saturday nights. Usually one or two guest beers' from a variety of breweries' local and national.
Reopened late 2018 following an extensive refurbishment.

2.5star - Popped in for lunch recently when passing through. A mediocre, but fair meal. After sitting down we realised it was a Samuel Smiths pub, and food was on par with a Weatherspoons. 2 adults, a child, 3 drinks for £30. Small portions. Burger wasn’t much more than a supermarket buy. Personally wouldn’t return. Nice setting inside, children allowed, couple nearby had a dog, so dog friendly too.
Fantastic Pub! Staying on holiday in Newton-le-Willows, wanted somewhere to have good food, a nice pint, but also comfortable with the kids! Food was fantastic and the staff so friendly, was made to feel so welcome, would highly recommend.
The best place to visit when in Bedale. The bar staff are so welcoming and friendly. The landlady and landlord are so welcoming. Child and dog friendly. Amazing to watch sports. The food is delicious! There is a poor table and small beer garden. Usually music nights and events. It has recently had a HUGE refurb and wow the rooms are incredible! A must stay in the heart of North Yorkshire! BOOK NOW.
