Me and my wife had a lovely meal here today. Sea bass was lovely, scallops could be bigger or maybe a few more given the size of them. Cod and chips was lovely, drinks arent cheap,£6 for a pint of pale ale,and £4 for a pint of coke. Staff were excellent

Food was poor, 2 mixed grills were dry as the Sahara, rib eye steak tasted strange(soapy), ordered a side of garlic bread which came out after the mains had been finished with (not finished). Ordered drinks which didn’t go through and had to reorder half hour later with same server. Really bad experience following a positive visit during busy Xmas period.

We pre booked a table for 3 and were greeted warmly upon arrival. Our waiter Sam did a great job explaining the 2 different menus, normal and seasonal. Both menus had a great variety of dishes, there is something to suit everyone. Our order was taken efficiently and we felt comfortable and not rushed at all. We didn't have to wait long before our first courses arrived. The food itself was great and the portion sizes were spot on. We enjoyed our evening dining here and will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely meal Wheatstone Inn.

The pork belly starter was quite good, but it all went a bit downhill from there. The beetroot ravioli were a little dull and leathery, and the game mixed grill was a real disappointment. The confit duck was OK, if a bit limp, the venison steak was a bit tough and the crispy roast potatoes turned out to be new potatoes browned slightly in the oven. Even the merlot beef dripping gravy was a bit meh. They did have a draught real ale on but although it wasn't really to my taste I'm fairly confident that wasn't owing to poor cellarmanship, it was just mediocre beer. The staff were all lovely though, and it wasn't terribly expensive; I had just hoped for more.

Great food. Greeted by host very quickly. We hadn't booked, but only a table for 2. We were shown to a nice area and presented with a menu and a point towards the bar for drinks choices. Good selection on the menu for all courses and food came reasonably quickly. Food itself, fantastic and care seemed to be taken on cook and the presentation. We both had 3 courses and everything was perfect. Thank you all.
