Brilliant country pub/restaurant. I've been coming here for years, often combined with a walk around the nearby Outwoods. Good beer, good food (I had the famous Woodhouse Smokies as a main course).
Absolutely incredible lunch today. A really superb place to eat, faultless in every way it's a long time since I have been able to say that about any UK restaurants. I have gone to a lot of places in the UK of which there is always something wrong. However, this place has it all. Food first rate, service fast and polite, super ambience. All parts of each dish are perfectly executed. It may look simple but the love and care in the kitchen is clear in the taste of the food. I am so impressed I will be returning again. Thanks so much.

Best friendly pub in the area great food & atmosphere the staff are great can definitely recommend. Sunday lunch fantastic.
Lovely pub with lovely staff. We stopped for some lunch and a pint and we had a great time. We had the Sandwich and soup option. The brie and cranberry sandwich, with the soup of the day mushroom, garlic and parsley was excellent. For a treat we had the apple and berry crumble with custard, hmmmmmm. It was all very tastey. The pint was an IPA the loom I believe and I would definitely order it again. We looked at the rest of the menu and it all looked delicious I will definitely be coming back. It is also dog friendly.
