A lovely evening with the family. Good service, food was good and filling. You could eat outdoors, lovely view of the lake and fountain, cosy indoors. Well recommended.
Had a lovely time here with a friend of mine. We ordered a few small plates and share like tapas, everything was super tasty. Had some desserts too, the apple crumble was huge, should state it's good for sharing although it really should come with more custard! We were sitting outside, view for the lake is lovely.
First of all, I paid for drinks, lunch for 2 people and service charge (£4) at the counter. I brought our own drinks to the table. The stuff only brought the meal to the table. I then went to get cutlery, sauces, paper napkins and salt and pepper myself. I asked the staff for two plates, but she didn't bring them. Then I went to get two plates myself. Why did I have to pay the service fee?? I don't think it's a good idea to ask for a service fee that you haven't received in advance.
Staff are friendly, chef not accommodating as I asked for capers blended with mayonnaise cause the tartare sauce that came with the fish and chips with microwaved petit pois was more of a floury glue than tartare sauce but was told that the blender is only used for Mise en place 😀. The calamari was bland and so thin and over cooked with mayonnaise and whole capers. The duck dish was tossed yesterday’s shredded duck in hoisin sauce with plain microwaved rice and seaweed from a packet salad. Ready cooked Chicken wings dipped in Chinese takeaway sweet and sour sauce mixed with Tabasco sauce with batons of red cabbage. The beers are good with the nice view of the pond and that’s all is good for. A good new challenging chef will definitely make a huge big difference in that place. Laziness always drives business downhill
Really enjoyed my visits to this pub but food isn't great. It's a beautiful building next to the lake, loads of heated outdoor seating. The staff are fantastic and really friendly, there's a decent selection of wine including a good English wine. Food is average, the salmon tortellini was decent but the chicken burger was fairly poor (fairly dry burger with too much coating in a dry bun), chips were decent though. We've visited a few times but will stick to just drinks in future. Last orders for food are 8pm!
