Fundraisers at J D Wetherspoon have shaken off the myth of 13 being an unlucky number by raising a spectacular £13 million to support young cancer patients.
The money was raised in support of CLIC Sargent, a support charity which fights for young lives struck by cancer.
The milestone means that fundraisers in J D Wetherspoon pubs across the UK are now raising as much as £1.6 million every year. The most recent million was raised in just seven months.
Representatives of J D Wetherspoon were thanked by two teenagers who are supported by the charity: Tyler Hart and Tilly Somervell.

In time-honoured tradition, Wetherspoon’s pubs across the UK will be celebrating, once again, the life and poetry of the Scottish poet Robert Burns.
Pubs will be serving award-winning Scottish haggis, neeps and tatties to mark the annual Burns’ Night event. However, our celebrations will continue for a full eight days, from Friday 20 January until Friday 27 January, inclusive (with Burns’ Night on Wednesday 25 Jan).
So, why not join us and raise a toast to the Bard of Ayrshire – over a plate of Scottish fare.

Visited the Claremont back in July, Was really impressed with the friendly staff and excellent food. Got a little bit sozzled, stayed on later than intended and had a scream with the locals! They are a crazy gang but very, very friendly and made us feel very welcome! Planning to go there for Christmas too!!

Seemed a great pub, ideal location with superb views, the beer was spot on if a little too expensive. The problem arose when the people who I assume were the management appeared. I can only guess that had answered an advert asking for attributes that included being surly, rude and ignorant, they appear to have them in spades..shame looks like it could be a good pub.
