Beautiful beautiful beautiful! Gorgeous weekend stay with a friend. Food was incredible, dinner had a fantastic range of options and breakfast too! Service was quick and all staff very friendly. Took a walk around the grounds and saw the gorgeous little touches with the lights outside and the grassed area and doggy ale for pups! Can’t wait to come back in the summer to spend some time out there! Our room was huge and had the comfiest bed ever! Every detail Well thought out even down to the toiletries (which smelt incredible) Perfect winters evening spent in the lounge area, with great wine choice! Will most definitely be back!
Enjoyable Sun night stay with free dinner included. The pub is very dog friendly which is lovely. Our room was cosy but the lighting was poor. Also both windows looked out on a public place so we had to keep the blinds down. There was no heating on in the room when we arrived which was a shame as it was a cold Jan evening and didn’t give a very welcoming feel. It soon warmed up though. The breakfast was great but the lady serving was a bit brusque and impatient with guests. Our request for more coffee was met with a sigh and eye roll! She was the same with other guests too. It all seemed to be too much trouble!
Very pleasant overnight stay. The room was comfortable, not huge but nice and warm. The service was very good. We had dinner and the service and good was first class. I do think you could upgrade your tables and chairs. I banged my knee on the table and I’m not ever so tall (6ft) and the chairs were not comfortable nor sturdy. I appreciate this is the country style you are going for.
Another Chestnut Group hostelry, another great little place to stay and eat. Having been to others within the group this has the same feel from the moment you step inside. Comfortable room, well stocked friendly bar and good restaurant / conservatory depending on the time of day. There are plenty of walks from the pub front door. There is also the Ship @ Dunwich within walking distance across the heathland. If you have a dog they are welcomed and there are loads of places to stretch their legs.
We had a lovely stay. We celebrated my father's birthday. The service was excellent, the food superb - we all commented we felt the menu choice was a step up from our last stay. Thank you so much for the decorated plate saying happy birthday too, a lovely touch. Thank you so much for another wonderful stay at The Crown.
