Preordered steak and kidney suet pudding and boy was it worth the two day wait. Wonderful experience and fabulous food and people. Never had a better pie/pudding.

Amazing food. Staff lovely and polite. Very kid friendly. The pulled lamb Wellington was the best meal we had all week. Absolutely fantastic. The free range chickens ans dogs made my daughters day and the cute little waterfall and seating outside makes a lovely setting. Sumday roast was also good Price was more than reasonable.

We were staying for several days at a house right next door to the Westbury Inn, and so a/some visit(s) seemed like the thing to do! Unfortunately for us, the pub was closed for a day or two when we arrived. We made up for lost time by popping in several times during our stay, twice for dinner and a couple of other times just for simple quaffing. So, what's the pub like? We were blessed to show up one evening and find it closed. That's the blessing? No. Just as we arrived, the owner (Andy) also showed up and let us in. Personal service! A great conversation with the owner followed over the following hour or so, where he told us everything we wanted to know about his background (he's a trained chef); the pub (it's independent); available parking spaces (he told us - cryptically - that the village roads have no double yellow lines painted anywhere). He was very passionate about his food, and we are very happy to report that we benefitted from excellent grub. The first time we had dinner there, we didn't make a reservation. In retrospect a reservation was advisable, but a table for a party who hadn't yet appeared suddenly became available to us. Score! I chose the grilled whole sole (delicious!) that evening. The other time was ate there, I chose the stilton and nut wellington. That was pretty remarkable - really flavorful. The crust (the pastry?) was solid, and I have no idea how the chef managed to pull this off. Can I have the recipe pretty please? It's too far for me to come over regularly and get my fix of this dish (I live 5272 miles away according to Google Maps). Two thumbs up. Andy, keep up the good work, you and your staff - especially your chef, whose name I have forgotten.

We stayed in a cottage a couple of doors down, so used this pub during our stay. I have to say it was a really nice place. Friendly staff who all work very hard. And the Guinness was absolutely beautiful. We also had a Sunday roast which was the best roast I’ve ever had.

Was looking forward to eating after seeing the menu but a little disappointed. Service was a bit poor, ordered wine that didn't arrive till after we'd finished our main courses. Steak was overdone for what I asked for and yet not seared. Dauphinoise was huge and yummy at least.
