4 ladies out celebrating a 57th birthday when we entered and went to the bar the young bar staff said she was unable to serve us due to an issue. We then got escorted out of the pub by the bouncer (who looked uncomfortable by doing so) and he explained there was an issue with our group. (This group was all aged between 57-60+ and certainly no threat or harm) entered the pub by calmly walking in. Unsure if this was mistaken identity or if they simply didn't want the older generation in the pub on a Saturday night? I sent a messaged to the pub asking for an explanation as to why this happened but unfortunately no reply. It was a very bad experience and if you want a nice drink and to be served there are plenty of other local pubs in wakefield who treat people with respect. Avoid.
First visit after reopening, and glad I went. After presumably a busy Christmas and NYE, only one of the three real ales was on. Not a problem, as it was what I wanted, White Rat, and an excellent pint of it too. AND, it was on offer at £2.50!!! Several large screens showing Sky Sports, not many bars have the (good) real ale/Sky combination. Not sure how long the £2.50 will last.

Called in for a drink on Saturday 9th with a few friend’s the pub was very busy but we was served quickly considering how busy it was. Prices very reasonable and staff were exceptionally welcoming. We used to drink in this pub many years ago so I was really glad to hear it had reopened I would definitely recommend this pub as a first port of call which is very close to the train station. Ooh nearly forgot to mention we managed to get some free food too which was lovely.
The young lady behind the bar was very bossy & jobsworth....almost to the point of being rude. Me thinks she's in the wrong job and shouldn't be let loose with all that power..!!
