Manager was friendly, but not very professional, dirty t towel in back trouser pocket. Spent more time sorting energy provider out at the bar. Looked scruffy in jeans and jumper. Had the mushroom starter, not has the pictures stated on the website. Tasted good. Fish and chips to follow. Some of my chips tasted old and warmed up microwave taste, did mention that, fobbed off with it was because they were triple cooked. No they were warmed up. Fish was good. Tartar sauce was very salad cream tasting, not home made. Cheap ketchup. Pub looks a bit scruffy, and a lot of air fresheners about. Toilets needs a new seat. Overall everything dated.
Has apparently just started doing lunches - so it was a bit quiet when we arrived at 12.15pm. Filled up a bit as time went on. The service was really good - very friendly staff. The food was amazing gastro-pub fare. I can recommend the Roast of the Day - the beef was thick, generous and tender. My companion had the cajun chicken sandwich with chips. With 3 diet cokes total price was less than £25 as there's currently a 20% discount. Will definitely go again.
The starters were really lovely and we enjoyed looking forward to our mains .when they arrived my husbands lasagne look and tasted really nice .I ordered hunter's chicken. Looked well presented but I must admit I thought there wasn't enough bbq sauce on .mushroom was cold .but to my horror after taking a mouthfull of chicken. It had a funny taste lifted the bacon and the chicken was raw .Full of apologies and replaced without charge for something different although I ended up eating by myself as my husband had finished is by the time mine reappeared. The pub could do with a bit of a face-lift but it was clean
Only ever had a few casual beers here whilst out for a walk (one needs a rest). Staff friendly, prices good - even on their premium lagers. Promised myself to return with others to try their food. Fab beer garden at the rear with loads of seating and great views.
Love this pub with new Guvner Richard. Great beer, banter, snacks, music, sport. Now doing food which is top class and great value.
