Lovely Club,Great Service and lovely venue
This place is like a tardis. It looks small from the outside. Once you get inside it has a nassive concert room and the other rooms are well laid out. We had a brilliant party there and our elderly clients loved it.
Attended a fund raiser for the Sue Ryder Foundation on 3 November. The function room was an excellent size and bar staff were quick and efficient. Drink prices were a pleasant surprise too. Car park soon became full, but if you park respectfully, there is on street parking nearby
Certain members of the committee could do with putting a smile on their faces & being more friendly towards members, no need for ignorance. Other than that it's a nice place to socialise when the live turn is good.
We went in November. My missus is local and her family has been going there years. I was sponsored by a member. I was the Yank on holiday sort of thing. Staff were great. Friendly smiles, fun banter, swift service, and patience. They treated me like family the first of my three nights there. Like any other club, it has it's rules and traditions, that one should respect. We played bingo, and won. I played the pull-tabs, and won- multiple times. The John Smiths is great, the prices are cheaper than I am used to. I only wish we had these sort of places in the states. Hope to visit again, sooner than later.
