We were in to watch the gig for new year, so can't comment on the food and I drink spirits so couldn't tell you about the beer... But it was a cracking night with a great band and atmosphere, and the prices were the normal prices with a pay as you feel gig. Can't knock it at all. Thanks guys.
Great classic pub that truly supports the live music industry. If you ever get the opportunity to go see a live band here it is truly worth it, they are one of the few venues left in Leeds providing a real breeding ground for live music. The staff are also fantastic and do a great job of keeping everyone served, even when it's rammed. The owner Rob is also a great guy and really looks after everyone (customers and staff). My only quibble with the place is the price they charge for spirit mixers. When it comes to beers they have a great selection (including non alcoholics) and they are very reasonably priced, but a double (house) rum + coke costs me the best part of £9. I kind of get their thinking, but unfortunately I'm allergic to beer and would love to support this pub a lot more than I already do, but I just can't justify that sort of money on the regular when I could (for example) get a cocktail in one of the UKs Top 50 cocktail bars nearby for about a quid more. I know it's a bit of a personal gripe, but hopefully one they can sort out by adding a spirit mixer deal or two in the future just so I can justify coming down and supporting the bar a bit more. P.s. if you visit, please bring a bit of cash (£5 - £10 would be ideal if you enjoy them, but a couple of quid is fine if you didn't) and always put money in the bucket to support the bands. They are playing for basically nothing and I've never seen a bad band here, they deserve a bit of your spare change to help them keep going.
First time at this establishment, what a night! We attended the Sasquatch & Blind River gig, we've done four on the tour so far and it was hard to believe that this gig was free! How that was possible I honestly don't know. However if the owner and promoters can do that for us the fans and people who've never seen them before, utmost respect and thank you! 🤘 Great graft Ale on tap, food and all the staff friendly and helpful. The sound man was an absolute legend and a gentleman too! If you love live music the Duck & Drake is a must visit! Live for the music!
Best pub in Leeds, no doubt about it. Brilliant range of beers, good beer garden, and dog friendly.
Great little pub in Leeds, right close to the centre. It seems like a locals pub and was reasonably quiet when I visited. The pork pie and mushy peas was very tempting though. Good pint of amstel and pretty cheap, landlord clearly looks after the beer pipes and cellar. Staff and customers were very friendly and some decent music playing. Lots of very good pubs in this great city
