The Boathouse is Jasper Gorst’s new venture. Formerly a restaurateur of 25 years in London, he has now turned all his knowledge and talents within the industry to focus on this delightful riverside setting in Amberley.
The menu is inspired by the Mediterranean. Freshly made pasta, meat and fish dishes from the chargrill oven are created from artisan produce arriving daily from both local and foreign shores.
What an absolute delight to find a place that understands interior design and top quality food. We visited a while back over a busy sunny weekend and couldn’t get in so returned yesterday with friends for a delightful long lunch. From start to finish it was amazing and the food couldn’t have been fresher! All cooked to perfection with generous portions, non of the crazy tasting menu stuff that drives me crazy! The menu changes monthly I believe. I had the monkfish tail for mains and it didn’t disappoint, absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. All tables have been set out well and considered. We all had a lovely view of the river and then moved to the sofa area for our coffees after. I wish I had taken some pictures but we were all too busy enjoying ourselves so I’ve shared some form their website. I really recommend the house white wine (organic and available by the glass) went perfectly with the monkfish. We will definitely return, would love to see it at night also as the lighting has been set out to make for a gorgeous glowing restaurant. Cant fault this place at all. Book it you won’t regret it.

Empty restaurant, owner could see there were kids, and regardless of how many provisions we had, or protective gear we had on, some shelter and the ability to buy a few drinks from them would have been nice. Not just say "it's a private pontoon." Service one star. Atmosphere one star. Can't rate the food because we didn't have any.
Wonderful lunch, great food and great service. We stumbled across the Boathouse a couple of weeks ago and came back to try the restaurant on Sunday. The food was first class and the staff were friendly and welcoming. This will be our new go to restaurant. We’ll be back in a weeks time to dine with the parents one evening. A huge plus for us was that we could take our well behaved little dog with us and enjoy a lovely walk afterwards. A huge thanks to Jasper and his team
Used to be a favourite for my family back in the day but then closed and now revived and renewed by fabulous people who know about really good food and wine. A perfect place for that special meal together. Gorgeous interior but we chose one of the outside tables looking out to the Downs. Simply magical. We’ll definitely be back
Stunning location right in the riverbank by the bridge. We visited in the evening and it still looked great all lit up at night. The boathouse has a great interior and feels like you’ve left the quite village into a lively restaurant you’d find in town. Food was great and could tell was freshly made and the pizza oven on show is a nice touch too. Would definitely go back.
